I follow a lot of news websites as some are clients and often click through to stories because of their interesting headlines. However, a few days ago one of these stories really caught my eye which I’m going to share with you now.
Let’s have a peek at three pretty normal looking women:

These three women found out their partners were looking for love elsewhere, they all found their relief online. Did they find support groups or forums that could help them deal with the emotional pain? Nope.
- One started a blog about the cheat
- One edited a dating profile for her partner, adding some embarassing extras
- One “hacked” into her partners emails and humiliated him
As I’ve said on numerous occasions, it’s so easy for people to start a blog or write on a forum that people will do it.
It’s all out there
About 1.3 billion people use the internet, more and more of them are becoming “web literate”, and thanks to improved technology women like these can set-up a blog, edit a dating profile, access someones emails. It’s not just women like these, its the 1.3 billion people online that have access to this type of thing.
- News sources include the guilty which will rank for their name
- Friends, family, colleagues and others can be aware of your shameful acts
- Their next girlfriends may “Google them”, how long are they going to be girlfriends?
Online reputation management issues can really affect a persons life as theres a lot of ways your reputation can be damaged, just like these women have shown when their men went looking for other women.
Still don’t think reputation management is important?

Glen,
This is so true!
It is more important than ever to be careful about every move you make. If you screw up and are talked about on a blog or a forum that is really critical for the quality of your life. If somebody knows your passwords and messes with your social network profiles, that is even worse!!
Imagine if you are looking for a job and an employer is Googling your name!? Well, if that employer finds out about your secret fetishes, well, you can forget about that job!
The internet can kill your reputation. It can also really enhance it. You just have to watch your steps and make sure you are making the right move.
Hey, Glenn,
Excellent post and a concept that can be expended upon. Thanks for the insight.
I’ve also enjoyed your posts on SEOmoz. I like your take on SEM and SEO.

The internet like other medias, only is a path, with great target but a media at least. If you send sms by cell you can make a snow ball, may be more great that you use a internet services. When the people act with malicious, get more persons that believe at her or him wront histories.
Your acts and actions made your repotation, you don’t let that others broke or destroy that you building with your effort.
Another thing, if you act bad or cheater maybe you regret or yourself made but reputation for you. But always you can give up and make your own way to the sucess.
