How to Market Perfume
This post is a post in the Unique Marketing Angle series where members submit sites and I take a look, and give them a unique marketing angle to help them with their site. The first two have received some great email feedback so heres to the third (thread).

DRHFineGifts is a run of the mill perfume and gift store that is certainly in a highly competitive market. It didnt take me long to think of what I believe is a great idea to help market to consumers and thats going for the ‘celebrity’ angle. Seeing as celebrities have their own perfumes, and celebrity perfume search terms do actually exist, its not only the Search Engines that you could see some traffic, heres what I would do:
- Create pages for all the big celebrities, a bio and link to your product pages about which perfumes you think they would like
- Comment on Celebrity blogs such as PerezHilton, the Superficial, JustJared and the traffic you can get is immense. If theres a blog entry about a celebrity that you have a bio on, say something like ‘Hey, great scoop, did you know that Paris Hilton wears XXX perfume?’ That XXX could be a link to your product and its relevant to the blog entry
With so many celebrity blogs around its obvious that people are ‘obsessed’ with celebrities therefore people tend to try and live a lot like celebrities. If you can get the pages right and looking good, people want to know what perfumes and fragrances celebrities are wearing these days…LET THEM KNOW!

Market a Niche Directory
This is the 2nd entry in my, ‘Post your website, and get a marketing angle’ Blog post series via submissions from this DigitalPoint thread. The Niche directory in question:

DirectoryofSEOLinks is a niche Directory that I honestly believe is a great idea, why? Because in every single directory the Website Promotion type categories are more populated than any other category, see I told you I thought it was a great idea ;). Apart from this thing selling itself on the fact that its simply ‘website promotion links’ ONLY, I have a suggestion that would make this directory very unique in my opinion, remember I did say some sites will only need a few lines to describe the angle to which they can market themselves:
Show the top 10 sites on each page, ordered by their number of inbound links in Google
I honestly believe this website will market itself due to the sheer number of website promotion / marketing / SEO type websites that fill up general directories and seeing as its stricly related to that niche it gives the links more quality in my honest opinion. Even if its just on the homepage order a list of the top 10 sites in the directory via the number of inbound links they have, people will submit their site if they think they can make it and get a homepage link and even tell others in order to ’show off’ their rankings. Win win situation.
