How to Market Perfume

This post is a post in the Unique Marketing Angle series where members submit sites and I take a look, and give them a unique marketing angle to help them with their site. The first two have received some great email feedback so heres to the third (thread).

DRHFineGifts is a run of the mill perfume and gift store that is certainly in a highly competitive market. It didnt take me long to think of what I believe is a great idea to help market to consumers and thats going for the ‘celebrity’ angle. Seeing as celebrities have their own perfumes, and celebrity perfume search terms do actually exist, its not only the Search Engines that you could see some traffic, heres what I would do:

  • Create pages for all the big celebrities, a bio and link to your product pages about which perfumes you think they would like
  • Comment on Celebrity blogs such as PerezHilton, the Superficial, JustJared and the traffic you can get is immense. If theres a blog entry about a celebrity that you have a bio on, say something like ‘Hey, great scoop, did you know that Paris Hilton wears XXX perfume?’ That XXX could be a link to your product and its relevant to the blog entry

With so many celebrity blogs around its obvious that people are ‘obsessed’ with celebrities therefore people tend to try and live a lot like celebrities. If you can get the pages right and looking good, people want to know what perfumes and fragrances celebrities are wearing these days…LET THEM KNOW!
